 2023 Preview 


       Crenshaw Christian completed the 2022 season with a 8-4 record. With their 3-1 region record and a second place finish in Class A region one, the Cougars earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Last year Crenshaw Christian reached the semi-finals before falling to a very good Jackson Academy team by the score of 22-6.

       Since 2010, Crenshaw Christian has gone a combined 98-52. Their 65.3% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Crenshaw Christian has managed to compile a record of 183-99. Their 65.0% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class A and 5th in the AISA.




       The Cougars will be under the direction of new head football coach Brandon Burleson as they enter the 2023 season.  Coach Burleson, McKenzie defensive coordinator and head baseball coach, Brandon Burleson, will take over as Athletic Director and head football coach at Crenshaw Christian Academy.

      

       The Cougars open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Abbeville Christian on Friday, August 25 at Cougar Stadium. Last year the Abbeville Christian Generals finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in fourth place in Class AA region one. The Generals lost in the first round of the Class AA playoffs to Patrician Academy by a score of 55-13.

       Crenshaw Christian and Abbeville Christian have met a total of 38 times on the football field. The Cougars have a 28-10-0 record against the Generals. They last met in 2022 with Crenshaw Christian winning by a score of 59-21.

       Crenshaw Christian lost AISA All-State  offensive lineman Walden Mitchell to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating was teammate offensive lineman Coleman Owens.

       The Cougars return AISA All-State Senior linebacker Drake Mills. He was named to the first team last season. The Cougars also return Senior athlete Brayden Moore. He was named to the first team.

Clay County shutout an amazing eleven opponents in 1996. The Panthers outscored their opponents 613-42 finishing the season 15-0.
